Clear Falls wine pays tribute to the abundance of waterfalls scattered throughout the valleys of New Zealand. The warm dry climate of our vineyards ensures our premium grapes have the tenacity needed to sustain them, that in turn creates the intense fruit flavours of our Clear Falls wine.

Throughout the year, wine from these vines refreshes us. However, it is the nourishing rains at the end of vintage that feed the clear waterfalls of the New Zealand rainforest and regenerate the landscape, beginning the cycle again to establish the refreshingly distinctive Clear Falls palate.

The Story

Much of New Zealand’s finest scenery is set amongst our hills and valleys and can only be accessed by foot. Scattered across numerous of these hilltops, adventurers will find the trig stations that serve as physical reference points for marking location boundaries and mapping our landscape.

Our Trig Station wines reflect a passion for New Zealand’s pristine outdoor environment and will inspire both the adventurous and the thrillseeker alike.

The Story

Turtles represent triumph over adversity. They can be traced back to the Triassic age, over 200 million years ago. Only one out of every thousand sea turtles survives after hatching, although those that do can live for up to one hundred years.

The largest turtle is the great leatherback sea turtle, at an impressive six feet in length and weighing up to 900kg. Female turtles are up to four times larger than their male counterparts. The fastest turtle can swim at speeds of 36kph. Some turtles can live for more than a year without food and are an environmental barometer of the welfare of the planet.

The Story

Waiau in Māori means the waters of the swirling currents. Associated with the rips and whirlpools in tidal river mouths, surfers often use these currents or waiau’s to get back out quickly when surfing Taranaki breaks.

The painting on the label is called The Secret Spot by Joanna Cambie, painted one winter while dreaming of summer and looking forward to another great surfing season. To get to the secret spot you must first go through the secret garden located at the bottom of Waiau Estate. Just ask the locals. Enjoy!

To acknowledge New Zealand’s achievement as the first country to sign an FTA with China, Hatton Estate released their Ambassador range, designed specifically to cater to the Chinese palate.
